Lebanon, April 2-14, 2017 As always, stunning vistas of the sea and snow capped mountains. I drove to the North to revisit Kadisha Valley with its stunning monasteries. Its ancient cedar forests: Then back to Beirut with constant appearances on TV and Radio shows. For now, work became all that matters, as the entire world began collapsing, falling apart. Beirut is a good place to be when insanity rules. March 11 - April 2
As always it was bizarre and not very pleasant experience, to spend substantial time in Europe. I gathered with the MP's from 5-Star Movement in Italy, went to art exhibition with an Afghan princess, encountered Latin American diplomats and visited art venues... in Paris, Rome, London, Germany... to get the point please read my essay: "Love, Western Nihilism and Revolutionary Optimism" Afghanistan, February 27-March 5
Eye opening, extremely important visit to this stunning but thoroughly destroyed country. I managed to work in Kabul, in the north and in Herat. I saw misery, I witnessed bombs going off, I encountered NATO occupation troops and observed monstrous Western military bases. I also admired great culture and beautiful nature... and made friends... and decided to return, soon. February 15-24
Beirut again! And huge 2 hours interview with pan-Arabic network Al-Mayadeen which will be broadcasted in full on April 16, 2017. February 8-15 After a substantial pause, return to Istanbul. And then... a mad dash to Syrian - Turkish border, south of Gaziantep. Nizip refugee camp... karkamis and finally Erbeyli... militarized border, building of new and monstrous wall, ruined economy and lives Indonesia January 25-February04 This time extremely tough schedule during my 10 days in Indonesia. In Sumatra, speaking at Bina Darma University in Palembang Then driving and literally flying over River Musi on makeshift speedboat, visiting isolated communities, reporting on absolute destruction of the environment on Sumatra Island, for RT and other outlets. It is clear environmental genocide, but no one seems to care, in Indonesia or in the West: The misery in the city of Palembang is unimaginable, some living in this kind of ratholes: This is extremely beautiful Botanic Garden (Kebun Raya) in the city of Bogor... and one of the Presidential palaces. It is where, after being deposed by Suharto and the West in 1965, progressive President Sukarno lived till the end of his life in house arrest: And this is one of the most important places on Earth, at least for me: so called Asia-Africa Conference building in the city of Bandung. Here, in 1955, non-aligned movement was born: Bandung, together with Havana and Miami Beach, has the best 'tropical art deco' structures in the world: Night visit to the camp of Jakarta governor Ahok. New elections on February 15. Will he prevail of fall? Stunning train ride between Bandung and Jakarta:
