I was only transiting in Bogota but I passed the immigration in order to have coffee with my dear friend Constanza Vieira, one of the greatest Latin American journalists. We met first time in Finland, years ago, at "Helsinki Process" conference.

Cuba

One mad dash to Cuba! This time I drove all over the place from Santiago de Cuba to Guantanamo and from Havana to Playa Giron (heroic place where we defeated counter-revolution and US sponsored invasion).

Despite some rumors, I testify that Cuba is standing firm! Its people are as always greatly educated, aware of what is happening in the world. They want socialism and if necessary, will defend it.

Country is improving rapidly, especially its infrastructure.

I wrote several reports. All of them available on line. One of them: Cuba Will Not Fall!

Northern Norway

On the way to Latin America, I made a detour and visited my friend John Steppling in a small Norwegian town Straumen, where he lives with his wife. I flew to Trondheim and he waited for me with his Land Rover, and we drove north and talked talked talked.

John is one of the greatest living playwrights. Former Hollywood screenwriter who turned against the establishment. He is also an important philosopher.

In a small, cozy provincial school in Straumen I witnessed John teaching a theater class to a group of under-performing students. I also participated. It was amazing how he managed to ignite those otherwise shy and reclusive kids! I was proud to be there, to be his friend, to be working with him!
