Ethiopia. Cradle of civilization. With remnants of pro-Soviet times, now this place is staunchly pro-Western. With its monoliths, rock-carved churches and ancient cities it is fascinating place to visit.

MALI - one of the most mysterious and fascinating cultures on earth. I am dreaming of visiting Mali's ancient cities. Unfortunately just very brief 'visit' - stop over of Ethiopian Airlines on its trans-continental flight from Dakar to Addis Ababa. SEPTEMBER 2010:
Senegal: chaotic Dakar, chilling and magnificent Ile de Goree, colonial city of Saint-Louis, stunning national parks near Mauritania. Difficult, but fascinating place to visit. SEPTEMBER 2010:
Translation of my novel - Point of No Return - is out. It looks like it made big splash in Paris. I came to visit my dear friend and publisher David Konig. We ate, we drank and we were promoting my novel. Great time as always. I had been had by French press: France/24 (http://www.france24.com/en/20100906-writer-andre-vltchek-point-of-non-return-journalist-photohrapher-eve-jackson), Le Figaro, Paris Match and many other outlets. Good interviews - much more intelligent than in most other countries. And as always in Paris, very good company: David, his wonderful brother Jonathan Konig (great musician), David's girlfriend - very talented filmmaker, and their artist friend Artus de Lavilleon.
